What Does Freedom Feel Like For Phyllis "The Fighter"?
The United Animal Nations (UAN), an animal advocacy group in San Francisco, CA, is sponsoring the retirement of Phyllis at the sanctuary in Fort Pierce, FL. Never again will Phyllis or the other twenty-three chimpanzees at the sanctuary face the confines of a cage. They came from research laboratories to a safe haven where they can live out the rest of their lives in comfort and safety.
In conjunction with the 2001 Student Essay and Art Contest, the UAN challenged students to describe in words or pictures their ideas of what freedom was like for Phyllis her first day out of captivity. The winning entries can be viewed at www.savethechimps.org/contest_phyllis.asp.
GREENS+® is also a sponsor and delivers PROTEIN GREENS+™ twice a month to the sanctuary. The chimps love their smoothies with GREENS+®. We are looking forward to offering the sanctuary our hot new pet product, JUNGLE GREENS+™. |

The financially ruined lab at Almagorda, NM has been purchased by the Center for Captive Chimpanzee Care. Dr. Carol Noon put forth the offer to purchase the buildings and equipment conditioned on the donation of all the chimpanzees and monkeys. Carol said the 266 chimpanzees and 61 monkeys will be permanently removed from research and housed at expanded facilities in Florida and New Mexico. |
